After posting many photos and videos of the Born EV, Cupra has finally revealed it with full specs. The tech is identical to the VW ID.3, but the Spanish version boasts a more vivid design, tweaked suspension, larger brakes, wider front tires, a Sports stability control mode, and a special power upgrade.
The car comes based on the MEB platform and is available with two rear-mounted engine options: 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW) and 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW). The smaller 45-kWh battery grants 340 kilometers (211 miles) of range, while the larger 58-kWh option gives 420 km (280 miles).
Unlike the ID.3, the Born benefits from an optional package called e-Boost. The car retains its rear-wheel drive layout, but raises power to 231 PS (228 hp / 170 kW) while keeping the 310 Nm (230 lb-ft) of torque. Buyers of this version will be offered the largest battery size available: 77 kWh, which should be enough for 540 km (335 miles) of range. On the downside, the larger curb weight of the top spec increases its sprint time from 6.6 to 7.0 seconds.
Standard equipment includes 20-inch wheels (the ID.3 makes do with 18-inchers), a new steering wheel and center tunnel, a dashboard cover, new gauge graphics, front seats with integrates headrests, and a 12-inch touchscreen instead of the 10-inch one of the ID.3.
The production starts in September.
