Cupra Born gets an adjustable suspension upgrade from KW

Cupra Born (K1) owners can now opt for KW coilovers to make their crossovers look sportier while improving handling.

The base kit costs €2,000 and can be manually configured for different use scenarios (for example, streets or track).Things get more exciting with the KW DDC Plug-and-play package for €2,594, which enables the car to adjust spring stiffness on the go based on the surface being driven on and the driving style. The adjustments are made on a per-wheel basis, and the system factors in acceleration, braking and turning.

Both versions use the KW Variant 3 coilover model, a more expensive and technologically sophisticated model equipped with multiple valves for quick and precise movements. The developer claims that the upgrade can extend the electric range of the SUV, because it results in a much smoother ride and prevents the on-board ESP from triggering often.

The lowering can be adjusted with millimeter precision from 20 to 45 mm (0.8-1.8 inches) on both axles.
