German suspension specialist H&R released lowering springs for the ICE-powered Cupra Formentor a couple of months ago (see video), and has now followed up with a coilover set for the part-electric version of the SUV.
EVs and hybrids are generally tricky to lower due to their bottom-mounted batteries. but the Formentor proved to be a remarkable exception. The H&R team managed to drop its front end by 50-65 mm (1.95-2.54 inches), adjustable down to a millimeter. The rear end fared even better with the lowering possible in the range of 45-65 mm (1.76-2.54 in).
The coilover kit is already available in Germany for €1,486. The manufacturer warns that installing aftermarket suspension parts will trigger a suspension malfunction warning. There are different ways to circumvent it, one of them being the installation of a special defeat device. Including that one into the package raises the total to €1,832.
The coilovers are also compatible with the petrol and the diesel versions of the Formentor.
