The Volkswagen Golf R is a fantastic-yet-expensive hatchback with a more wallet-friendly alternative in the Cupra Leon. As this video by AutoTopNL testifies, the Spanish hot hatch can easily outperform its German cousin with a pinch of tuning.
The vehicle being tested on the autobahn here is a SEAT Lean Cupra 280 equipped with a 2.0-liter TSI mill normally rated at 280 PS (276 hp / 206 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. This particular ride, however, enjoys a brush-up to 513 PS (506 hp / 377 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft).
The scope of the tuning is obviously large, but the details are not available. All we know is that KolbenKraft carried out the job. Once upgraded, the car had its speed cap lifted to 300 km/h (186 mph), which it hits in the video with apparent effortlessness.
