Cupra announced the all-electric compact SUV named Tavascan as far back as 2019, basing it on the Volkswagen MEB chassis with two motorized axles, but the development apparently hasn’t begun until now.
The latest bunch of spy shots shows what looks like a Tavascan test mule driven on and around the Nürburgring. As you can see, the exterior bodywork is that of the VW ID.4, but the front fascia is strongly disguised with slimmer headlamps and a completely different lower bumper. The tail-end looks like the production ID.4, but we are still convinced it is the Tavascan.
Earlier rumors claimed the Tavascan (watch the video for the concept version) would take on the shape of a coupe-like compact SUV and occupy the niche at the very top of Volkswagen Group’ “sporty electric crossover” lineup.
