CycloTech previews a two-seat flying car

Australian startup CycloTech has designed an all-electric aerial means of transportation with vertical takeoff and landing and two seats in the cabin.

Called CruiseUp, the VTOL is designed to let private owners make short flights from one part of the city to another. It comes equipped with a proprietary propellant system named CycloRotor, which mimics those of watercraft propellers. Six rotors combine their efforts for a top aerial speed of 150 km/h (93 mph) and a maximum flight distance of 100 kilometers (62 miles).

The first CruiseUp prototype – which weighs a low 80 kg (176 lbs), by the way – has already performed its first unmanned flight. You can find it in the video below. Still, if you want to buy one as soon as possible, better temper your expectations: the startup firm doesn’t expect mass production to become viable until at least the year 2035.
