First Dacia EV shows up on patent pics

Dacia – a Romanian car brand founded by Renault to sell its most affordable models – has applied for patent rights to its newest electric vehicle, the Spring.

Like its prototype shown several months ago, the production car is essentially a redesigned/rebadged Renault City K-ZE for China. At only 3.7 meters long and 1.58 meters wide, it packs a 45-hp (33-kW) motor that takes it to 105 km/h (65 mph). A 26.8-kWh battery grants it 271 km (168 miles) of NEDC-rated driving range.

With all subsidies taken into account, the Renault City K-ZE starts from approximately $9,000 in China. The Dacia Spring scheduled to hit the showrooms across Europe next year will likely be more expensive than that, but it will still contend for the title of the cheapest EV available in the Old World.
