Dacia has unveiled the Manifesto, a fully electric all-terrain vehicle (ATV) with a buggy-style body. The car, which lacks doors or windows but comes with sleeping bag seat covers, will be introduced properly at the Paris Motor Show next month.
According to the company, the goal was to design an ideal vehicle for active leisure enthusiasts who prefer to spend their free time out in the open. To that end, the buggy has a flat bed in the back making it look like a small pickup. The roof is modular and can be reconfigured for transporting various equipment and gear.
Airless tires make navigating tough terrain easier – they withstand punctures easily – and also have the advantage of longevity, the manufacturer points out. As for the body, it is made of Starkle – a plastic compound partly derived from recycled polypropylene.
The interior also strives to be environmentally responsible with corkwood trim pieces and no chrome anywhere in sight. Drivers can use regular tap water to wash the entire cabin.
A multimedia system is not on the list, but passengers may put their own smartphone inside a dedicated slot and fasten them with a clamp to keep them stable during a bumpy off-road ride. Called YouClip, this feature is something Dacia plans to implement in more production cars moving forward. Interestingly enough, seat covers are removable and double as sleeping bags.
The fun doesn’t end there. You can detach one of the headlamps and use it as a portable flashlight, or detach a battery and use it to power external appliances (or light up a camp at night – it’s your call). The battery even has a regular power socket built into it to simplify things.
The rest of the technical parameters remain to be revealed. All we know is that the Manifesto is a fully electric design study with no production prospects at this time.
