Rumor: New Dacia Duster to get a hybrid system

Unofficial reports are coming in that Renault is busy working on a hybrid powertrain to power the next-gen Dacia Duster. This could refer to E-Tech, the system that powers the Clio and Captur for Europe and is being continuously improved.

At least two E-Tech versions exist right now, and it seems logical that the new Dacia Duster would get one, too. According to the rumor, the engineering team intends to take the stock 1.6-liter petrol engine and bore it out to 1.8 liters of displacement, improving output without worsening fuel economy.

The alleged Duster Hybris should arrive by 2024, followed by a Dacia Bigster-based production car a year later.
