Dacia Duster spied testing a new AWD powertrain

The third generation of the Dacia Duster (see video) has an AWD option that uses a 1.2-liter TCE turbo three-pot to drive all four wheels via a 6MT. Well, it looks like another one is coming soon.

A Duster was spotted in Europe the other day with what the photographer claims was a new all-wheel-drive system. It apparently involves a dedicated electric motor driving the rear wheels when necessary and idling the rest of the time. Renault is already using a similar setup on its pricier SUVs, but Dacia will want to redesign it with affordability in mind.

The new AWD Duster is expected to debut in late 2025.
