Rumor: Dacia considering an all-electric Sandero

Dacia will forfeit its ‘affordable’ status if it starts electrifying its whole range, but the Romanian automaker is still looking for ways to integrate EVs into its product lineup, Autocar reports. The Sandero, in particular, looks like the closest candidate for the conversion.

According to Autocar quoting company reps, there are no technological hurdles here. Using its own experience and the tech shared by other Renault Group companies, Dacia will easily produce a mass-market electric car.

Even if the Sandero gets a battery powertrain, it will continue to be available with traditional IC engines. Aside from electrification, the automaker is looking into natural gas drivetrains as a cleaner alternative to the petrol and diesel engines.

It is also implied that the Sandero will have gone through two more generations by 2035, and the first one is expected to come around 2028. This is probably when we may see the first all-electric version of the hatchback.
