The Dacia Sandero hatchback is Europe’s most sold vehicle in January-October 2023, Automotive News reports quoting the preliminary results of a study conducted by Dataforce. Curiously enough, the much more expensive Tesla Model Y is just a few hundred units behind.
Specifically, European car owners have registered 184,088 new Sandero cars in the first ten months of the year and 183,799 Model Y EVs. In October, sales have sharply swerved in favor of the former with 21,139 Sandero units vs. 9,660 Model Y units.
The team behind the study points out that Tesla deliveries traditionally go slower in the first month of any given quarter, so November and December are likely to show much better results. All in all, Model Y sales in 2023 compared to the same period of 2022 have increased by 142.3 percent, showing the fastest growth dynamic market-wide.
The third place in the rating went to the Volkswagen T-Roc with 164,833 units sold, Peugeot 208 with 163,672 units and Renault Clio with 154,493 units.
