Dacora Motors unveils a $0.5M EV

The first super-SUV by a NYC-based startup firm Dacora Motors packs around 650 km (400 miles) of range while starting from a cool $500,000.

The luxury vehicle has an exterior inspired by the 1950s-era aesthetic – smooth and flowing body outlines, emphasized fenders and round headlights. The hood looks like it could be made of natural wood planks, although it may be an imitation.

The interior can be configured with anywhere between three and seven seats. The first option gives you two seats in the front row and a single ultra-comfortable seat in the back. As for the dashboard, it has modern digital screens for the infotainment but classic analog gauges for the instruments.

Dacora promises a wide range of customization options and even says customers will be able to subscribe to services like regular trim replacement. For example, you may want to refresh your interior design based on the current season or before holidays. If you still don’t quite understand who would ever need something like that, consider that the car has an espresso machine, a fridge, an air humidifier and an actual bonsai tree garden listed under options.

On the mechanical side of things, it’s an EV that weighs around three metric tons (6,600 lbs) and sends around 811 PS (800 hp / 596 kW) to the wheels. Dacora claims it sprints 0-96.6 km/h (0-60 mph) in less than four seconds.

The production start date remains unknown, but preorders are already running. The company says it has already received enough orders to keep it busy for a year. Once the EV demand trickles out, a hybrid version is scheduled to follow.
