Daihatsu, an automotive sub-brand owned by Toyota, will arrive at the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon with the TAFT Concept, essentially a cross between a CUV and a Kei car.
Based on the Waku Waku Concept, the show car isn’t just for show: in fact, the company plans to launch it into production in mid-2020.
Powered by a tiny 0.6-liter engine with a CVT and 64 horsepower (48 kilowatts) at the wheels, the wannabe SUV will ship front-driven in its simplest configuration, but you will be able to order AWD, too.
Inside, the Daihatsu TAFT looks just like the Waku Waku Concept it is based upon, except for a larger infotainment screen. Noteworthy features include transforming rear seats, a panoramic glass roof, and LED headlights.
