Daihatsu, a car brand owned by Toyota, has revealed a sporty roadster concept based on the Copen kei car series (Robe trim). The car has been designed in cooperation with Toyota’s Gazoo Racing.
The new Daihatsu Copen GR Sport Concept uses a space-frame chassis and features an all-plastic body that can be taken apart easily.
Compared to the mass-produced Copen, the GR Sport Concept features a different-looking radiator grille, bumpers, fog lights, and 16-inch forged wheels. It also boasts revised suspension and stiffer bodywork.
The interior of the car remains the same except for new Recaro seats and a red dashboard lining.
The car comes powered by a 0.6-liter turbocharged engine rated at 64 hp (48 kW).
Daihatsu has hinted that the car would soon become available, but provided no closer estimates.
