Daihatsu presents a couple of small roadster concepts for JMS-2023

The Japanese automaker will be exhibiting two compact roadsters at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show, both sporting their own, unique styling cues and different powertrains.

One is called Daihatsu Osanpo and is advertised as an ‘electric sports car’. It is 3,395 x 1,475 x 1,330 mm large with 2,440 mm of wheelbase. It has a simple and laconic exterior, which is quite unusual for Daihatsu, and has been manufactured largely from recycled waste. The company reckons that a car like this would be perfect for leisure-paced sightseeing drives.

The other one is named Daihatsu Vision Copen and presents a different take on one of the Japanese marque’s best-selling cars ever, the Copen. It is full of references to the first-gen Copen model going back several decades (see video), but keeps things modern in the cabin with multiple displays and touch panels.

The latter concept utilizes a new version of the Copen’s mass-produced engine, which has been stroked out to 1.3 liters of displacement and modified to support eco-friendly fuels. The car is 3,835 mm long, 1,695 mm wide and 1,265 mm tall with 2,415 mm between the axles.

The remaining technical parameters will likely be announced at the show.
