The 2021 Tokyo Auto Salon may be an online-only show, but this does not mean it has to be boring. Daihatsu, for one, will be attending it with five design studies of its own make.
The cars will be posted on the manufacturer’s website when the show opens. First on the list is Taft Crossfield, which uses the regular Taft chassis and comes with 52-hp and 64-hp engines to choose from.
The second entry is Thor, a custom take on the production car by the same name. The main highlight is a different selection of engines (69 and 98 hp).
Next up is Copen Spider, essentially an open-top Copen Cero model armed with a puny 0.6-liter engine rated at 64 hp and 92 Nm.
Cranking up the bizarre is the Sportza Concept, which is a Hijet Jumbo with its top cut clean off, a low windshield, different body kit and exhaust pipes at the sides. Wrapping up the list is another Hijet turned into a retro-themed campervan to celebrate 50 years in production.
