Datsun 240Z puts on a Batmobile suit

Ash Thorp, the creator of the original Batmobile for the latest Batman movie that came out in 2022, took a normal Datsun 240Z and turned it into yet another superhero ride replica. A Tesla Model S powertrain replaced the engine.

With multiple design contributions for De Tomaso, Lamborghini and other renowned vehicle brands, Thorp is by no means a novice at what he does. For this Datsun project, he teamed up with Carlos Pecino from Make Haste Corp.

You can still easily tell it’s a 240Z, although the modifications are numerous and far-reaching. The fenders were strongly flared and a giant diffuser was added to the rear end. Cameras came in to replace the side mirrors – you can just barely see them in the front fender niches.

Like any self-respecting Batmobile, the car wears a matte black finish. It rides on BBS multi-spoke alloy wheels with smooth carbon-fiber hubcaps. Like the rest of the body trim, they are sprayed to match the main color.

A Tesla motor mounted at the rear axle drives it with 401 PS (396 hp / 295 kW) – nearly three times as much power as the model’s original 2.4-liter six-cylinder mill. Rounding off the project is a cabin where very little remains of the donor car.
