A 1972 De Tomaso Pantera that starred in the fifth instalment of the Fast & Furious movie saga will go on sale in Las-Vegas in late June. It only had a cameo appearance in the movie, being the first vehicle Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Connor pulled out from the train in the train robbery scene (see video).
Fast Five came out 12 long years ago. The current owner of the sporty coupe bought it from the movie studio in 2013. It has since been restored, resprayed and re-trimmed. Certain missing details, such as windshield wipers, spare wheel and AC, point to its filming set background, as do some added parts such as an integrated roll bar and a disconnect switch.
A 5.75-liter Cleveland engine with additional Edelbrock parts drives the wheels through a ZF five-speed manual gearbox. The auction holder does not specify the power or the projected selling price. In stock form, the mill produced 330 PS (325 hp / 243 kW), but this one is not stock. As for the De Tomaso Pantera, well-kept supercars fetch U.S. $100,000–150,000 nowadays. This one could get a bit more thanks to its movie background.
