A 1983 DeLorean DMC-12 coupe is up for grabs in Florida right now for $98,000, around twice as much as these cars usually cost. There is a decent explanation for it, too.
According to the seller, the car was kept in a climate-controlled environment and only serviced with OEM parts throughout its life. More importantly, its owner put around 8,000 kilometers (5,000 miles) on it prior to parking it in a garage in 1986 and almost never using since then.
The vehicle rides on original Goodyear NTC tires and has several replacement parts installed, such as the fuel pump, the doors and the tailgate pillars.
The DMC-12 was produced in a run of around 9,000 units, but the surviving fleet is estimated at 6,500. The seller claims that the vehicle was pieced together in the last production year, making it especially rare. They proceed to point out that it can be a great investment, because prices are expected to continue to rise.
The DeLorean DMC-12 (see video) is primarily known for its time machine role in the Back to the Future movie trilogy.
