Detroit Motor Show expects twice as many participants this year

The International Motor Show opening in Detroit on September 13, 2023 will be attended by twice as many companies as the last year, the organizer behind the event believes. Several international premieres are also expected.

According to the official comment, Ford, General Motors and Stellantis have already supported the idea to attend the show this year. The corporations plan to use it as an opportunity to unveil new vehicles of all their constituent brands. Jeep and Ram are even planning on setting up test drive tracks for the guests.

A dedicated indoor track will be built for electric cars, too. It will include a straight-line acceleration section around 100 meters (330 feet) long. Seminars and educational lectures will be held in the same facility for those who would like to learn more about EVs and their design peculiarities. Technology startups will enjoy a dedicated exhibition area of their own.

The last year’s Detroit Motor Show took place in the fall and felt rather empty due to many companies either refusing or being unable to attend. Per Carscoops, some automakers had Covid-related challenges of their own to overcome and no resources to spare for the event, others did not like the show being postponed. Examples of car marques missing from DAS-2023 include Audi, Honda, Hyundai/Kia, Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan, and Porsche. You can check it out in the gallery and video below.
