The last Challenger SRT Demon and Dodge Viper sold for $1M

The last production copies of Challenger SRT Demon and Dodge Viper sport cars have recently been sold as a single auction lot at U.S. $1,000,000. The entire sum will be directed to charity.

The minimum price of a new Challenger SRT Demon is U.S. $85,000, whereas a new Dodge Viper costs nearly $96,000 in its most basic version. Nonetheless, their last copies have managed to fetch an auction price more than five times over their market value.

Both vehicles are painted bright red, but are otherwise identical to their series-produced counterparts. Each Challenger comes equipped with a potent 6.2-liter V8 engine rated at 850 hp (634 kW) and accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.1 seconds. The auction lot comes with additional options, a drag-racing tire set and a car cover.

The Viper ships with a 8.4-liter engine with somewhat less impressive 654 hp (488 kW) of raw performance. It needs 3.5 seconds to achieve the same acceleration, but can ultimately surpass 330 km/h (205 mph) when traveling in a straight line.
