Dodge Challenger SRT Demon sets a new speed record

The International Mile Racing Association (IMRA) has officially documented a new speed record for the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Armed with the Demon Crate package, the sports car made it to 339.937 km/h (211.227 mph), the reported maximum speed of the McLaren Senna and Porsche 911 GT2 RS.

In its production form, the muscle car comes equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 850 horsepower (634 kilowatts) and 1,044 Newton-meters (770 pound-feet) of torque. This enables it to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.1 seconds and top out at 270 km/h (168 mph). The Demon Crate power kit adds a performance air filter, drag racing-spec front wheels, a different engine control unit, and a switch to racing-grade fuel.

As of April 2019, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon series is no longer in production. The last (3,300th) copy of the car rolled off the assembly line in May 2018. The company bundled it with the last Dodge Viper and sold the duo for U.S. $1,000,000, even though the individual cars only cost $85,000 and $95,800, respectively.
