A virtually new Dodge Challenger Convertible is currently up for sale at the Keffer dealership in North Carolina, USA. The credit for creating this one-off soft-top ride goes to Convertible Builders, and the price tag reads U.S. $64,000.
The build is based on the Challenger R/T Scat Pack, which currently starts from $47,840. Is the removable top really worth a $16,000+ premium? Not necessarily, especially if you consider that the muscle car lacks any other kind of mods. Powering it is the stock 6.4 Hemi V8 rated at 485 hp (362 kW) and 644 Nm (475 lb-ft) of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Another concern arises from the lack of any kind of mention that this particular example was reinforced after the roof removal. Most convertibles come with serious structural reinforcements to compensate for the lack of a fixed roof. Then again, maybe we missed it.
On a brighter side, this Challenger by Convertible Builders only has 1 mile (1.6 km) on the odometer, so maybe it will find a new owner after all.
