Dodge Demon races the new Toyota Supra for desert supremacy

DragTimes has published a video showing an A90 Supra and a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon racing each other on a quarter-mile of desert sand.

The Dodge comes powered by a mighty supercharged V8 with 6.2 liters of displacement, 850 horsepower (634 kilowatts), and 1,044 Newton-meters (770 pound-feet) of torque. Equipped like this, it zaps from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in mere 2.1 seconds.

In contrast, the Japanese sports car packs an inferior BMW turbo-six mill with 340 hp (254 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque. It need 4.3 seconds to hit 100 km/h.

This makes the North American muscle car the obvious favorite of the race, but let us not forget that it has been specifically designed for drag racing on smooth tarmac. How well will it fare on the sand? Watch the video to find out!
