Another Dodge Charger shows up to say goodbye

Dodge has unveiled the next instalment in its Last Call collection of Charger and Challenger models released before both become history. Called the Charger King Daytona, the newcomer boasts an exclusive orange paintjob and 817 PS (806 hp / 601 kW) of thrust.

This version pays homage to William ‘Big Willie’ Robinson, who piloted a 1969 Dodge Charger nicknamed King Daytona. The name of the modification can be found behind the rear fenders of the new Charger, executed in a special font.

From the technical point of view, the car is a Hellcat Redeye Widebody spec with its 6.2-liter V8 bolstered by an additional 10 horsepower. New 20-inch wheels allow a glimpse at six-piston Brembo calipers behind the spokes, which sport the same shade of orange as the rest of the car.

Inside, the sport seats are trimmed with Alcantara and decorated with special embroidery and stitching. Premium materials and color inserts can be seen throughout the cabin.

The company plans to produce 300 such vehicles next year. The last-but-one entry in the Last Call lineup will debut on September 21, 2022, and the last one will be ready in time for the SEMA show. Dodge has already unveiled an all-electric muscle car concept destined to phase out the Charger and the Challenger (see video), but its production terms remain to be announced.
