$13k buys you a single carbon wheel for the Dodge Challenger Demon 170

A full set of carbon-trimmed wheels for the 1,039-PS farewell edition of the Dodge Challenger costs north of $50,000, Carscoops reports. You can buy one from Mopar now for a cool $13,000 before discounts.

Those who bought the Challenger Demon 170 when it was still available could upgrade it with the carbon wheel set for a relatively modest $11,495. But now that all cars have been sold out, these wheels have become something like a luxury aftermarket option for tuners. Even so, it is worth reminding oneself that the Demon 170 spec started from U.S. $96,666 – now you are supposed to pay more than half as much just for the wheels.

As ridiculous as the pricing seems, Carscoops sees multiple ways in which it may actually be justified. First, the rims actually consist largely of carbon fiber with only a little aluminum added in. Second, when the Demon 170 was on pre-order, these wheels were often marked as “out of stock”, so not everybody who wanted them could actually buy them. Finally, supercars with carbon wheels tend to fetch much better prices in resale thanks to the sheer rarity value.
