As you may know, U.S.-based tuner shop Speedkore unveiled a fully restored and modernized 1970 Dodge Charger Evolution at the SEMA 2018 a few months ago. Among other things, the unique retro car received a new engine boosted to 979 hp (730 kW). In case you missed it, be sure to take a good look at it now, you will like it.
The tuner put the elderly dragster in an all-carbon body, thus reducing its weight by 150 kilograms (330 pounds) to a total of 1,500 kg (3,300 lb.). It also ditched its original engine for the modern 6.2-liter supercharged V8 mill of the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. By adding a cold air intake system, a performance exhaust and larger fuel injectors, as well as tweaking the supercharger, Speedkore has managed to squeeze it for 979 hp (730 kW) and 1,220 Nm (900 lbft) of torque.
The tuner has also installed a new manual transmission, suspension and brakes, while leaving the stock rear-wheel drive system intact. Stock wheels made room for the HRE S101 forged rims (19” front, 20” rear).
The interior of the car does its best to preserve the aura of the 1970s while still taking advantage of the latest tech and features. The Dodge Charger Evolution by Speedkore sports plenty of these, some of the highlights being a Momo steering wheel, a carbon gear stick, a Sony audio system, Recaro seats, and a roll cage in place of the rear seat row.
The full list of modifications is much longer than that, but let’s not get nerdy. Have fun browsing the photos!
