SpeedKore, a renowned restomod specialist with a penchant for high-performance cars, has shared some details regarding its latest project implemented with the assistance of Stellantis Chief Designer Ralph Gilles. Starting with a 1968 Dodge Charger, the team outfitted it with a carbon-fiber body, a 1,000-horsepower engine, and a custom interior.
Fittingly nicknamed ‘Hellucination’, the car harbors a 7.0-liter Dodge Hellephant V8 under the hood along with an upgrade supercharger and a custom exhaust system. The unit pumps out 1,000 U.S. horsepower (1,014 hp / 746 kW) and 1,288 Nm (950 lb-ft) of torque to a ZF eight-speed automatic. Acceleration details aren’t available.
The car boasts a custom frame with independent suspension and a full-carbon shell, including even all the bottom paneling and the wheel arches. SpeedKore admits it has never used as much carbon fiber as this in any earlier project.
The Hellucination resembles the original 1968 Dodge Charger on the outside, but different proportions and new stylistic nuances give away its restomod nature. Even so, it keeps up the looks pretty well with some original parts. For example, the taillights here have OEM housings and LED internals.
A glance at the technical side of the project reveals Woodward steering, Brembo brakes, 19- and 20-inch SpeedKore wheels, and a bespoke cabin with individual elements designed personally by Ralph Gilles. The nostalgia-inducing old-school style comes side-by-side with such modern touches as the gear lever.
All pricing details were kept secret.
