The U.S. online luxury marketplace James Edition has posted a sales ad for a very special copy of a Dodge Charger issued back in 1970. There is hardly an original part left in the 48-year old body of the famous muscle car.
The vehicle is technically a “Restomod”, i.e. an old car that has been completely overhauled using state-of-the-art tech. This particular Dodge Charger underwent such a transformation in 2015. SpeedKore replaced much of the body using carbon panels and designed a whole lot of exterior and interior elements from scratch. For instance, there is a fabulous radiator grille made from a 1.8 meter (5.9 ft.) long solid piece of aluminum and a 100% carbon gear switch.
Technical improvements are also startling – and that would be putting it mildly. The studio decided against restoring the stock engine of the Dodge Charger. Instead, they replaced it with a… motor taken straight out of a hi-end racing boat. The monstrous unit commands nine liters of displacement room, eight cylinders and two turbochargers for 1,650 hp / 1,230 kW total performance output. The company actually had to modify the chassis to fit the humongous assembly under the hood.
Not least importantly, this isn’t your ordinary Dodge Charger. The vehicle was featured in the Fast and Furious franchise, participated in numerous shows and exhibitions and appeared in more than one hundred articles in major automotive publications.
The vehicle is being sold by the Californian car dealership Fusion Luxury Motors. The price is only available upon in-person meeting and is likely exorbitant.
