This 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona belongs to a production batch of just 22 units, and the seller claims this one was the highest-specced of them all. The 53-year-old restored muscle car will hit the block on May 13, 2022.
Making this example particularly rare is its combination of a 426ci (7.0-liter) Hemi V8 with a four-speed manual transmission. The engine makes use of dual carburetors and an upgraded cooling system, and makes 425 PS (420 hp / 313 kW).
Further options include a special Dana axle in the back with a different gear ratio and a self-locking differential installed. Both were part of the Super Track Pak back in the time. The owner of the Charger had it reworked at the factory to minimize weight, too.
Interior highlights include bucket seats, power windows, a radio, and tinted windows. The trim uses a combination of vinyl and natural wood.
According to the auction holder, the muscle car underwent a thorough restoration with an emphasis on preserving the entire OEM bodywork.
The Dodge Charger Daytona came out to help homologate its track-only NASCAR cousin. Note the tapering aerodynamic deflector at the front and the humongous rear wheel at the rear: both are factory parts.
