Dodge Charger Daytona SRT EV debuts as a design study with fake exhaust

The Dodge Charger Daytona SRT EV is a concept car running on electricity alone, yet still equipped with a Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust system. Doesn’t compute? That’s because Dodge aspires to be very, very different from other electric car makers.

The new design study pays homage to the classic two-door Daytona car dating as far back as 1968. It sports retro doors and hood, although the handles look modern and flush with the door panels. The intriguing triangular badge in the back is the Fratzog logo Dodge initially used on its vehicles in the 1960s and 70s. There are also glowing ‘Hellcat’ inscriptions on the fenders, which in this particular case mean nothing, because there is no gas engine on board whatsoever, let alone a Hellcat V8.

As we said above, the study is fully electric. Dodge claims it uses a 800V power system and has AWD, but doesn’t disclose any further details.

As for the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, all it does is synthesize a traditional ICE soundtrack for the car and amplify it before playing it back at the rear end of the car. Watch the video and listen to the sound if you would like a taste of it.
