The next generation of the Dodge Charger, which is shaping up to be completely electric, will apparently look almost identical to the last summer’s Daytona SRT Concept (photos no. 4–10 below). The report comes from Carscoops posting leaked pics of the first cars standing on the factory belt (photos no. 1–3). There are a few odd details, though.
The outlines of the new Charger resemble those of the concept and generally try their best not to deviate too much from the model’s iconic shape. However, the shots also reveal an unusually short rear overhang, a long rear window and a b-pillar, which the concept lacked.
The image no. 2 also has a pronounced recess in the part normally serving as the engine tunnel in ICE cars. Carscoops ventures a guess that it could be the transmission tunnel, but that would mean that Dodge has been developing the new Charger to accept both EV and ICE powertrains. Note also a distinct relief on the rear left fender, which looks like a fuel tank lid.
