Saying that the Tesla Model S Plaid is one of the world’s fastest production cars ever will not be an exaggeration, as the demonic thing blasts off from zero to 97 km/h (60 mph) in 1.99 seconds. This weekend, the YouTube team of DragTimes tried to dethrone it yet again.
A heavily modified Dodge Demon was chosen for the race. With a new transmission, supercharger, cooling system and wheel/tire combo, it is a veritable drag strip weapon packing 1,217 PS (1,200 hp / 895 kW).
But will it be enough to beat the Model S Plaid? Sure, at 1,034 PS (1,020 hp / 760 kW), the EV is somewhat behind in power, but it does command 1,424 Nm (1,050 pound-feet) of torque. What’s probably even more important, it gets all that torque straight from the launch.
So, anyone willing to bet on that Demon?
