Dodge contemplates a sub-$30k sports car

According to Dodge Brand CEO Matt McAlear, the company is seriously considering producing a sports car priced just right for many U.S. enthusiasts to drive on holidays.

According to him, it could cost less than $30,000 and become your ride of choice for weekend trips. Commenting on the state of the sports car market on the whole, McAlear said he believed there was still enough room for both pricey high-end offerings and wallet-friendly hobby cars.

He did not mention any release terms or detailed specifications, so it’s all up to speculation right now. For a bit of retrospective, check out the 2007 Dodge Demon Concept in the gallery here. It was revealed 18 years ago with a 2.4-liter engine, 174 PS (172 hp / 128 kW), manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. It was envisioned as a cheap sports car for the masses, but never made it as far as the production.
