As we reported not long ago, Hennessey Performance came up with a nice power kit for the already brutal Dodge Durango SUV. The first out of the 50 cars planned just shipped this week, and the tuner filmed a couple of videos to demonstrate its thorough approach.
Included in the HPE1000 package are a high-end supercharger, an especially robust drive belt, better spark plugs, fuel injectors, air filter and liquids, as well as a software upgrade for the engine. In a typical Hennessey fashion, the exterior was left largely stock.
During the tests that followed, the Durango was able to pump out 1,012 PS (1,000 hp / 746 kW) to the wheels at 6,500 RPM and hit a mountain-moving 1,314 Nm (969 lb-ft) of torque as early as 4,200 RPM. It also snapped from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in mere 2.8 seconds.
