Dodge Durango may go body-on-frame again, Mopar Insiders claims

The rumors that the Dodge Durango might permanently retire after a few years of production might have been false, after all.

A recent unofficial announcement from Mopar Insiders claims that the fourth generation of the Durango will be made. Furthermore, like the two former generations, it will revert the seven-seat SUV to its proven body-on-frame formula (the current generation comes based on a crossover-friendly unitized architecture).

The new Durango will allegedly be produced at the same production site as the latest Jeep Wagoneer and its stretched version. Aside from being based on the same platform, the new Durango will come powered by the same 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, which has yet to be revealed with all the specifications. A PHEV powertrain seems likely, too.

We will know whether the inside sources spoke the truth when (or if, for that sake) the new Dodge Durango debuts in 2023.
