Ridiculously overpowered SUVs and trucks continue to be a thing nowadays despite failing hard at fuel economy, and Throttle House’s lates video pits a Dodge Durango Hellcat up against a GMC Hummer EV and a Mercedes-AMG G 63 to see which one shall reign supreme at 402-meter grocery store raiding.
Powering the Dodge is the company’s proprietary 6.2-liter Hellcat engine boosted to 720 PS (710 hp / 530 kW) and 875 Nm (645 lb-ft) of torque. While not exactly featherweight, it is the lightest of the trio at 2,590 kilograms (5,710 lbs).
The Hummer EV approaches performance from the opposite end of the spectrum, nearly crushing the scales with 4,103 kilos (9,045 lbs), but packing three electric motors jointly rated at 1,014 PS (1,000 hp / 745 kW).
Finally, the AMG G 63 is kind of an outsider on paper with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 at its disposal, 585 PS (577 hp / 430 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. It is not that heavy at 2,650 kg (5,842 lbs), but enjoys all the aerodynamic excellence of a brick.
If you have been paying attention, chances are you are wondering right now whether the brutal Hummer EV can outrun the sleek Dodge on the quarter-mile drag strip. Well, watch the video and realize just how close the three are to each other all the time!
