The North American car manufacturer Chrysler doesn’t use its Dodge brand exclusively for passenger and commercial vehicles. The marque is also known for its strong backing of the law enforcement agencies, and the newest Dodge Durango Pursuit is no exception.
As the name implies, the police ‘interceptor’ uses the off-road Durango chassis. Apparently, the police liked the SUV so much they asked Chrysler to develop a specialty vehicle on its base.
The shiny new Dodge Durango Pursuit packs a no-nonsense 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine with 365 hp (272 kW) under its command. The powertrain also includes an 8-speed automatic transmission and permanent 4WD, the latter evidenced by the presence of a two-speed transfer case. Engineers had to install heavy-duty brakes to ensure that the bulky car decelerates with enough efficiency.
The base equipment lists a three-zone climate control, an adjustable driver seat with 8 presets, a potent oil radiator assembly and a water pump. There are also numerous storage niches throughout the interior, perfect for keeping donuts, which we all know American police officers simply can’t live without.
Peace!
