This Alfa Romeo Tonale is called Dodge Hornet, and it’s coming to the USA

Photos of the new Dodge Hornet spotted testing in Detroit have surfaced online. A closer look at the car confirms earlier reports that it is just an Alfa Romeo Tonale with new headlights and badges slapped on.

Dodge debuted a prototype vehicle called Hornet Concept 15 long years ago. Much has changed in the marque’s operation since then: it left Daimler AG patronage and existed as a standalone automaker for some time before teaming up with Fiat and entering Stellantis Group.

The original Hornet Concept never reached production in any form, and the company has now decided to recycle the nameplate for a rebadged Alfa Romeo Tonale. You may watch the enclosed video to see for yourself how similar the two are. The Tonale is actually available for purchase in the States, so we expect the Hornet to become its more affordable hybrid version packing around 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW).
