Enjoy the dinosaur roar of the now-extinct 1,400-HP Dodge Viper

Adam Smith posted a YouTube video where he tells us about his tuned-up Dodge Viper and proceeds to put it on the dyno. Headphones recommended!

Back in 2016, this Viper had its ten-cylinder engine fitted with two especially evil turbochargers and a MoTeC control unit set to max performance. A TR6060 gearbox fit in the role of the six-speed manual transmission. As a result, the Dodge started sending around 1,200 horsepower (900 kilowatts) to the wheels, which should translate into approximately 1,400 hp (1,050 kW) at the crank. But to us, the insane soundtrack it produces as it revs up to full throttle is the best part of the build.

Unfortunately, the build no longer exists – apparently, the tuning proved too extreme and culminated in engine failure. This is made sadder by the fact that Vipers aren’t allowed on U.S. roads anymore due to the missing side airbags. Dodge was given an opportunity to retrofit the existing cars with them, but chose to put the model out of production instead.
