China gains another affordable electric CUV

Dongfeng has introduced the Nano Box, a compact crossover hatchback running on the same principal tech as the Renault Kwid and the Dacia Spring.

Aside from ‘Nano Box’, the model has four other names in China, leaving it to customers to pick their favorite. Prices lie within the range of 65,700 – 71,700 Yuan.

As a subcompact CUV, the car is 3,732 mm long, 1,579 mm wide and 1,515 mm tall with 2,423 mm between the axles. It has four seats and a bi-color interior trim. The dash panel houses a 7-inch digital gauge array and a 10-inch infotainment display. You can access certain in-car functions from a dedicated mobile app.

A 27.2-kWh lithium-ion battery grants up to 331 km (205 miles) of CLTC-rated driving range. The charging port is located between the headlights. A lonely electric motor drives the wheels with 45 PS (44 hp / 33 kW) and 125 Nm (92 lb-ft) of torque, hitting its speed ceiling at 105 km/h (65 mph).

The Renault City K-ZE, which has been available in China since 2019, has the same platform, motor and traction battery as the newly introduced Dongfeng Nano Box.
