Voyah launches its electric sedan, the Zhuiguang, in China

Dongfeng-owned premium car brand Voyah has started the domestic sales of its all-electric saloon named the Zhuiguang. AutoHome is reporting that prices lie within the range of 322,900–432,900 CNY.

The car is quite large at 5,088 mm long, 1,970 mm wide and 1,505 mm tall (199x77x59 inches) with 3 meters (117 inches) of wheelbase. The exterior is styled in the same vein as the Voyah Free SUV. The rear spoiler extends automatically thanks to a servomotor and adds up to 40 kg (88 pounds) of downforce when necessary. Thanks to flush door handles and other aerodynamic improvements, the drag ratio is as low as 0.225.

Inside, a trio of 12.3-inch displays forms a single head unit on the dashboard. Yet another touchscreen resides on the center console and is used to access certain in-car functions. Rear row passengers enjoy their own touchscreen panel offering access to HVAC, infotainment and lighting settings. The multimedia system on board comprises 14 audio speakers and recognizes faces and voice commands.

Things look about as great in the driver aid department, where 31 sensors, radars, precise position units and cameras work to ensure safety and performance. For comfort, a four—zone HVAC system is preinstalled in all specs along with seat ventilation, while massage and other similar features come at a premium.

There is only one powertrain on sale right now, a duo of electric motors rated at 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW) and 730 Nm (538 lb-ft) together. The car reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.8 second and maxes out at 210 km/h (130 mph). The two available batteries yield 580 and 730 kilometers of range (360 and 453 miles, respectively). Fast charging replenishes enough power for 230 km (143 miles) of driving in just 10 minutes.

The smaller battery is available in two affordable trim levels priced within 30,000 CNY of each other. The larger battery is only obtainable in the top spec.

Voyah claims that ESSA – the architecture the Zhuiguang is based upon – lends itself rather well to hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell powertrains, too, in addition to battery-electric. Whether we will be seeing any of those in this model range remains unknown.
