Dongfeng to launch a Tesla Model 3 rival in March

Following its debut last November, the all-electric Dongfeng eπ 007 will officially go on sale in China next month. In the meantime, the company has revealed its four trim levels and the price range: from 159,600 to 199,600 Yuan.

In its basic version named the 200 Pro, the eπ 007 is a range-extender hybrid car that uses a 1.5-liter engine exclusively to generate power for the main motor. The motor resides at the rear axle, driving it with 218 PS (215 hp / 160 kW) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft) of torque. A fully charged 28.39-kWh battery pack gives it 200 km (124 miles) of CLTC-rated range, but topping up the gas tank extends the range to 1,200 km (745 miles).

The other three versions are full-electric. The 530 Pro spec offers the same motor along with a larger 56.83-kWh battery pack and up to 530 km (329 miles) of range. It starts from 166,600 Yuan.

Next up the lineup is the 620 Pro, which costs 179,600 Yuan and delivers 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) along with 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque to the rear end. Its superior 70.26-kWh battery pack lets it run 620 km (385 miles) on a charge.

Finally, the range-topping Dongfeng eπ 007 utilizes two electric motors in an AWD configuration. It hits each axle with 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) and benefits from the largest battery in the family. It reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds, but runs out of charge after 540 km (335 miles) due to increased power consumption. It costs 199,600 Yuan before options.

The car is sized 4,880 x 1,895 x 1,460 mm with a wheelbase spanning 2,915 mm. It has an 8.8-inch digital dashboard and a 15.6-inch infotainment screen inside, but hardly any physical buttons. Level 2 self-driving hardware including 31 different sensors is already included in the base trim.
