Second-gen Dongfeng AX7 premieres in China

The second generation of Chinese crossover vehicle Dongfeng AX7 just celebrated its official premiere in China. The car may or may not come out before the end of 2018.

The dimensions have changed only marginally compared to the predecessor model, now measuring 4,645 mm (15.24 ft.) long, 1,880 mm (6.17 ft.) wide and 1,690 mm (5.54 ft.) tall with 2,715 mm (8.91 ft.) wheelbase.

The new Dongfeng AX7 comes with a refreshed body design and LED lighting. The rear lights are now tied together visually with a horizontal LED stripe.

The interior greets the viewer with a new all-digital dashboard, a different center console design, a squared-off wheel and an advanced infotainment system with voice control support.

Available options include power seats (with customizable presets), seat heating, a panoramic roof, a 360-degree view camera set, 18-inch wheels, parking assist, emergency brake, lane control and blind spot monitor.

The series will ship with the same assortment of engines as the previous one. There is a 1.4-liter turbocharged Dongfeng engine with 140 hp (104 kW), its 150 hp (112 kW) modification, and a larger one developed by PSA and offering up to 167 hp (125 kW). Transmission choices are limited to entry-level manual and 6-speed automatic.

The Dongfeng AX7 comes front-driven. Prices remain unknown; the previous generation sold for $13,000.
