The Dongfeng M800 is a massive, ~$100k SUV for China

Dongfeng has patented a new vehicle in China under its M-Hero sub-brand a.k.a. Mengshi. Called the M800, it is a full-size SUV that surpasses even the company’s own M-Hero 917 model in size and starts from 700,000 Yuan ($98,000), CarNewsChina reports.

Compared to the M-Hero 917 – which can be found in the photos 4–10 below and the video – the M800 has a similar-looking ‘edgy’ exterior design. The front grille is somewhat smaller and the overhangs are larger, but that’s about it. The company claims approach and departure angles of 34 and 30 degrees, respectively.

The exterior dimensions are 5,136 x 2,172 x 2,036 millimeters with 2,950 mm between the axles. The M-Hero 917 has the same wheelbase, implying that the chassis could be the same, too. Despite its sheer bulk, the new M800 is a four-seater.

A 1.5-liter engine rated at 197 PS (194 hp / 145 kW) acts as a range extender for the main electric powertrain. Dongfeng does not specify how many motors are there, but its predecessor had three.
