French car marque DS Automobiles has released the first photos of its upcoming new flagship, which it plans to make available in China and Europe. Once out on the market, the car will face most of its competition from the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the BMW 5-Series, the company says.
Some sources claim the newcomer has a fastback body style and is called ‘DS 8’, but none of this is official yet. As for the architecture, everything indicates that the car will be based on the LWB Peugeot 508, which is not available outside of China.
Compared to its alleged donor vehicle, the DS 8 will likely sport redesigned front and rear, a trapezoid-shaped front grille, and daytime running LEDs similar to those of the DS 3 Crossback.
While the premiere date is still unannounced, we expect it to fall on the 2019 Guangzhou Motor Show in the coming November. Sales in Europe will most likely begin next year.
