The China Patent Bureau has published the first photos of the DS 9, an upcoming executive sedan/saloon that is being hyped as the main rival of the Lexus ES. The premiere will take place at the Guangzhou Motor Show in November 2019.
According to Chinese media, the DS 9 will be technically identical to the Peugeot 508L and come powered by a 1.6-liter, turbocharged V4 engine with 200 hp (149 kW) at the crank. A hybrid variant will also arrive sometime.
DS is a Chinese car marque that currently sells five models on the domestic market: the DS 5LS sedan/saloon, the hatchbacks DS 4S and DS 5, and the crossover SUVs DS 6 and DS 7 (watch the video for a quick demo of the latter). The company is not particularly successful, having only sold 3,867 vehicles in 2018 (down 1,980 from the year before).
