DS, a premium vehicle brand of French origins, has announced an upcoming change of approach to the trim levels of its cars.
Starting this summer, the company will only keep two trim versions in production, named Pallas (standard) and Etoile (deluxe). Everything in between will be discontinued.
This may seem strange for a premium car brand, as most of them try to offer extensive customization options these days. However, the rationale behind the decision seems clear when you consider the financial state of DS. Rumor has it that the China-owned company has been struggling to attain any kind of hold on the market. Cutting production costs seems viable in this context.
