Car enthusiasts the world over are still abuzz about the latest concept vehicles showcased at the Beijing Automotive Exhibition 2018. One of the most talked-about highlights of the event is the resplendent DS X E-Tense Concept, a two-seat hypercar with a 1,360-horsepower engine.
Its creator, the French company DS Automobiles, says the vehicle uses an ultra-light carbon chassis. Its all-electric powertrain encompasses two engines normally capable of 540 hp (403 kW), but switching to 1,360 hp (1,014 kW) in Circuit Mode.
Another flashy feature of the futuristic DS X E-Tense Concept comes in the form of an autonomous drive system directed by IRIS, a holographic assistant which seems to appear out of thin air in the cockpit.
DS Automobiles freely admits that the vehicle is way ahead of its time and should be regarded as a design study, rather than a series-ready sample. Nonetheless, some of its features will eventually make it to production cars issued by the brand.
